this hospital was pretty cool

as far as abandoned mental hospitals go...
photographically speaking.
but,
the hallways were pretty tough to shoot
because none of the doors were symmetrical enough to fill the frame evenly.
if you had a door on the right,
you lost your door on the left.
blah blah blah

because fuck your ornamental hand made plaster horse,

that's why!
i don't know why anyone would leave something like this behind?
it's probably a significant piece of this theater's architectural history?
i don't know why anyone would toss it onto the ground and break it either?
but, it is what it is...

(i believe there where 2 of these plaster horses laying around?)

in an effort to reach 100 posts:

i was backing up some files and i saw this one,
so i decided to post it...
you don't see too many shots from this vantage point.
if my blog was relevant, the urbex scene around here would be on fire
but it's not
relevant
my blog, that is...
(the urbex scene around here isn't too relevant either)
whatever.

i'm gonna shoot for 100 posts in 2016...

i don't know if i'll get there, but what the hell?
anyway,
i think i like this balcony shot better then the previous composition, shot from the floor.
i would have normally gotten back a little further, and
gave myself a little room on the sides of the frame.
maybe, i would have got the whole column detail?...
but,
i couldn't
because there was a giant wall in front of the balcony that blocked the organ player, or some shit
so this was as far back as i could get, whatever...

(i've edited and replaced this shot 4 times...WTF!)

from my recent road trip...

the light was pretty much shit on my recent road trip
but this church was awesome,
and i got to meet a friend who i only knew via online...
good times
with good people.

i have been wanting to get into this building for a very long time...

i had a couple chances but never made it down to the city
when the building was open.
we also got stopped by the popo one time
a few years back, as we were about to make our move.

anyway,
i made it inside-
and, while the building was a piece of rusty shit
i did enjoy shooting this staircase...

this is probably the only building of any significance that i have wanted to shoot,
but had been shut out of...
whatever.

i have been wanting to go to this hospital for awhile now...

but life has been getting in the way
not enough time
or desire
or ambition,
too many bills
and requirements
too much responsibility...

i couldn't quite carve out the time
to make it here,
to much physical therapy
too much gluten free granola
and reverse osmosis water...

but i managed to pull myself from the back of the line
at whole foods (i do like that death by chocolate cake)
and.....blah blah blah
you get the fucking idea.

i went here.
i killed it.
i took a big shit
and now i'm home...

i'm not sure why i haven't seen this photo, from this place before?
i think this composition is/was the absolute best thing that i saw here;
wood doors
bathtubs
a wide hallway
barrel ceiling
dramatic light
decay
no dick tags
boom!

i also hit a few churches, so i'll work on those files,
soon.
